VocTech Together
Increasing the adoption of proven vocational technology
From improving access to training to helping adults progress in work, vocational technology has the potential to play a transformative role in the UK’s skills system.
Appropriate technology, adopted well, can unlock learning, widen opportunity and support people and employers to thrive in a rapidly changing economy.
VocTech Together is Ufi’s £2.85 million programme designed to catalyse the adoption of vocational technology and transform skills development across the UK. The programme brings organisations, employers, technologists and policymakers together around a shared challenge: to move from pockets of effective use to deeper, more confident adoption of VocTech at greater scale – so it delivers lasting value across the skills system.
Backed by significant long‑term funding and support, the programme combines Ufi’s grant funding and expertise with new partnerships and evidence‑building to support sustained, systemic change.
Why now?
Vocational technology has the potential to improve learning and training. What is missing is effective adoption and scale. Too often, tools remain under‑used, fragmented or limited to well-funded sectors or learners – restricting their reach and long‑term impact.
VocTech Together responds with a deliberate mission to accelerate adoption. With £2.85m committed, we are backing a sustained, systemic approach that supports organisations to adopt technology that works, embed it into everyday practice, and build the confidence needed for wider take‑up.
At its heart, the programme is about collaboration. By working with organisations across sectors, places and learning ecosystems, VocTech Together aims to tackle the practical and structural barriers that slow adoption – and to demonstrate what works, where, how and why.
A systems approach to adoption
VocTech Together brings together several connected activities, each designed to support adoption in different ways, from embedding technology well to supporting adoption at scale. Through targeted support, grant funding, partnerships and evidence‑building, the programme will:
- Support smaller and learner‑facing organisations to take confident first steps towards adopting vocational technology that works
- Enable organisations ready for deeper change to implement and embed new technology more fully
- Support adoption at scale across communities, sectors and regions
- Build and share evidence to strengthen practice, inform decision‑making and influence policy
VocTech Together workstreams
VocTech Together takes a deliberately balanced approach, recognising that increasing adoption means supporting organisations to embed technology well, as well as enabling wider take‑up.
Rather than offering a single route or solution, VocTech Together is designed to engage organisations at different stages of adoption, while keeping a clear focus on implementation and impact.
A shared ambition
VocTech Together embodies our mission to unlock the full potential of technology to get adults learning. The £2.85m investment signals a clear ambition: to move beyond isolated initiatives and create the conditions for widespread, effective adoption of vocational technology that benefits learners, organisations and the wider economy.
Over the coming months and years, we will work alongside partners across the UK to turn this ambition into action – supporting adoption, building confidence and amplifying what works.
