Assistive technology for all

Practical tools, real‑world impact, and proven approaches that open up learning and work.

Bristol Braille

At Ufi VocTech Trust, we support the adoption and development of technologies to help adults gain the skills they need for work. Our focus has always been on learners who are furthest from mainstream provision – adults who are currently underserved, overlooked, or excluded by traditional systems.

By focusing where the barriers are greatest, we’ve demonstrated something powerful:

When you remove barriers to learning, you build technology that works for everyone. More flexible learning. More inclusive experiences. More real-world opportunities.

Ufi supported projects

This page brings together a set of assistive technologies we’ve supported – innovations already transforming how adults across the UK, and beyond, learn the skills they need to thrive. The projects demonstrate what’s possible when innovators build with empathy, test with real learners and focus on practical impact.

Across all projects we see consistent themes:

  • Learners gaining confidence, independence and new skills
  • Employers gaining capacity and becoming more confident in inclusive hiring
  • Coaches and support workers spending less time on repetitive guidance
  • People accessing roles that were previously out of reach

These are real shifts in agency, participation, and opportunity.

Assistiv

Clear prompts, personalised support and independence at work.

Assistiv provides step‑by‑step prompts to support people with learning disabilities and/or autism in the workplace. From hospitality to healthcare, the tool helps learners complete tasks confidently and consistently.

Impact
  • Multi award-winning
  • 250+ consoles already in use
  • Now expanding beyond the UK

Further project supported by Ufi

Many of the projects we support sit beyond traditional definitions of assistive technology, but they play an equally important role in widening access to skills and employment. These tools and platforms make learning more flexible, amplify learner voice, simplify digital experiences and connect people with real opportunities in their communities.

By improving the systems around learners – whether through more accessible interfaces, better pathways into work, or stronger support networks – these innovations help create an environment where everyone can participate, progress, and thrive.
