Helping organisations across the UK adopt learning technology with confidence
Learning technology can transform how people gain skills for work, but success relies on far more than simply selecting the right tool.
Long before making a purchase, organisations need to understand the learner challenges they are trying to solve, engage the people who will be affected, thoroughly understand what exactly the tool will need to do, and how it will need to integrate with existing processes, and create a clear plan for implementation. Getting this right can make the difference between a solution that’s shelved after three months, and an approach that changes lives.
Through our work supporting more than 250 organisations using technology to improve skills and learning, we have seen first-hand what helps people successfully adopt new approaches, and what can prevent promising ideas from delivering results.
The VocTech Together Support Programme is designed to share those lessons in a practical way, combining expert guidance, mentoring, peer learning and hands-on activities to help participants turn ambition into action.
The 36 organisations beginning the programme this month span charities and community groups, regional training providers and adult education organisations, and social care and youth services. Their work includes helping people experiencing homelessness move towards employment, supporting migrants and refugees to develop workplace language and digital skills, enabling carers and disabled learners to access training, and preparing young people for a changing workplace.
Despite their different backgrounds, the cohort shares a common challenge: each has identified a clear barrier to learning or skills development affecting their organisations or the adults they work with, and each has a desire to use learning technology to tackle it.

Over the course of 12 weeks, the programme is designed to give the cohort the confidence, evidence and practical guidance needed to move from consideration to adoption of learning technology. By the end of the programme, each organisation will have developed a structured, evidence-based, learner-focused approach, a clear plan for testing and implementation, and the confidence to continue independently. Participants who successfully complete the programme will also receive grant funding of up to £10,000 to support the time and costs involved and to support their ongoing plans. We look forward to sharing their progress and new insights from the programme.
Jane Holmes, Associate Director of Grants at Ufi, said:
“Successful adoption of learning technology is about much more than simply choosing a product or platform. It requires organisations to understand their needs, identify opportunities, engage with everyone who will use the new tool, test ideas and plan for implementation. The VocTech Together Support Programme enables us to provide personal, expert support directly to organisations that can benefit, sharing our extensive experience of what works in a focused, practical way.
“But many more organisations are facing the same questions. That’s why we’re making the programme’s tools, frameworks and activities available through our Practical Guides, so that organisations across the UK can benefit from the same insights and take a more informed approach to adopting learning technology for their learners.”
