Anthony Painter joins Ufi as Director of Strategic Engagement

With a background in research, policy and social innovation across learning and skills, institutional change, future of work, and public service reform, Anthony will ensure the continued development of high-level relationships and initiatives to support Ufi’s mission and long-term goals.

Commenting on the appointment, Rebecca Garrod-Waters, CEO at Ufi said:

"The Ufi team and Board are extremely pleased that Anthony is joining us as Director of Strategic Engagement. With the recent publication of our 2025 – 2030 Strategy, Anthony joins at an important time for Ufi and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to help ensure we continue to maximise our collective impact.”

Ufi’s 2025 – 2030 strategy builds on our successful grant funding and investment models, learning from the work we have funded and supporting the adoption and development of innovative technology that enables better outcomes and access for all. Strategic Engagement is a core thread of the strategy, running through our grant funding, partnerships and public affairs work.

Anthony said:

"If we don't get the skills system right, we are limiting the potential of adults, employers, places and sectors across the UK. Ufi are leading the adoption and deployment of vocational technology across the skills system, with great partnerships, policy work and funding programmes already in place. I feel very fortunate to be joining the team to help develop how Ufi and our partners can increase our positive impact even further. I am really looking forward to getting started in early March."

Prior to joining Ufi, Anthony was Director of Policy and External Affairs at the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and Chief Research & Impact Officer at the RSA where he led social and policy impact programmes from 2016 to 2022.

Anthony’s work at the RSA included the Ufi-supported “Cities of Learning” programme, a precursor to Ufi’s ongoing Strategic Partnership with the RSA.
