Part of the VocTech Challenge: Skills for an Economy in Transition
As part of the VocTech Challenge: Skills for an economy in transition, Ufi and Learning and Work Institute (L&W) are working with local stakeholders across the UK with expertise in education, employment and skills, to identify the key local barriers to adult participation in learning and consider what actions we can take to address those barriers together.
On the following pages we set out our work with partners in Aberdeen.
Overview
Ufi and L&W are collaborating with Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council, and North East Scotland College to tackle challenges in adult learning, including past negative educational experiences, time constraints, affordability, and language barriers.
Conversations have underscored the importance of clearer pathways from learning into employment, as well as making learning more accessible through partnerships between employers and training providers.
Our programme seeks to create targeted solutions that boost adult engagement in learning and enhance job prospects in the city.
