Place-based collaboration: Newport
Part of the VocTech Challenge: Skills for an Economy in Transition
As part of the VocTech Challenge: Skills for an economy in transition, Ufi and Learning and Work Institute (L&W) are working with local stakeholders across the UK with expertise in education, employment and skills, to identify the key local barriers to adult participation in learning and consider what actions we can take to address those barriers together.
On the following pages we set out our work with partners in Newport.
Overview
Ufi and L&W are collaborating with stakeholders in Newport to address barriers to adult learning, including low essential skills, lack of formal qualifications, and limited awareness of available opportunities.
Discussions have highlighted the need to raise awareness of existing educational provisions, connect learners with opportunities, and develop digital skills to meet the demands of the growing tech sector in the region.
The initiative aims to enhance access to learning and employment opportunities for Newport residents.
